2021 Tom Jenkins Success - Part III
Tom Jenkins in Yr 9 had a busy year. Please read below for details of his exploits:
Rowing
2021 CDRA Rowing Champs, Berry Park, 2nd U17 Single, 3rd U19 Quad
2021 Edward Trickett NSW Championship, Nepean River, 2nd in Single D Grade, 1st in Double D grade (both Open Age category)
2021 NSW Indoor Rowing Championship, 3rd in the 2,000m (Virtual event)
2021 Australian Indoor Rowing Championship, 5th in the 2,000m (Virtual event)
2021 Rookie of the Year, Port Macquarie Rowing Club
Selected to represent PMRC at the Australian Coastal Rowing Championships, Noosa (event canceled) The Independent Schools Championship at Sydney International Regatta Centre (SIRC) where he was to enter as an independent, was also canceled but Tom continues to train 5-6 mornings a week from 6am for the NSW Rowing Championship (Sydney, Feb 2022) and National Rowing Championship (Sydney, Mar 2022)
Mountain Biking
2021 RockyTrail Shimano XC GP Series, 1st Australian U18, 1st NSW U18, equal 1st Qld U18
2021 RockyTrail Fox Superflow Enduro Series, currently 1st Australian U17, currently 7th NSW U17, unable to attend remaining events in Vic and Qld but won events in both states and led the championship points in both states before COVID
2021 All Schools MTB Championship, Sydney, 2nd (Team 4, independent entry)
2021 VIC All School MTB Academy, Mount Buller, 1st Yr 9 &10 (independent entry)
Last weekend competed in the JetBlack 24Hr MTB race in Lithgow in a team of 4 where they finished 2nd outright in a race that was attended by in excess of 60 teams and solo riders. This is a 24Hr endurance race running through the night where Tom was in a team of mainly 15yo's including Tom Spilsbury from SJRC racing against both juniors and mature age athletes and led the race up until the 10pm mark on the first day before finishing the event 2nd for the entire field
This weekend attending the National Gravity Enduro Championships at Green Valleys racing in U17's which will be his last competitive event this year before MTB racing returns Feb 2022
