Kids Lit Quiz
This week, three eager teams of four students drawn from Years 7 and 8 participated in the Mid North Coast heat of Kids Lit Quiz. Originally, this event was to be held in Taree in March, but due to pandemic restrictions, this was changed to an online event.
All teams performed exceptionally well in this game of literary trivia, with one team emerging as the winner of this heat. Congratulations to Tiana Daly, Mikayla Hill, Hannah Thompson and Jack McManus - victorious against our other two teams, four teams from Taree Christian College and a team from Tinonee Public School.
Library Holiday Borrowing
We are not going to limit any holiday borrowing for our students. It’s unlimited.
Significant Literary Dates
Born July 21st 1899, Ernest Hemingway was a novelist, journalist, short story writer and sportsman. His language was spare and economical, and he won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. His adventures included being a foreign correspondent based in Spain during the Civil War, and also in Europe during WW2. What is SYNC?
SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens. SYNC will give away two complete audiobooks per week - pairs of high-interest titles, based on weekly themes. Sign up for email or text alerts and be first to know when new titles are available to download at www.audiobooksync.com.
The process to register, access and download titles are outlined below:
First register for SYNC 2020 on our homepage. Then set up Sora.
How do I set up Sora?
- Download Sora from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Open Sora and tap I have a setup code (at the bottom of the screen). - Enter this setup code: audiobooksync.
- Enter the email address you used to sign up for SYNC.
- Tap Explore (at the bottom of the screen) to see the week’s featured titles [SYNC 2020 starts April 30]
- I already use Sora for school. How do I add SYNC titles?
If you already use Sora, you’ll need to add the SYNC program’s library. Here are the steps:
In Sora, open the menu (in the top-right corner).
- Select Add a public library.
- Search for audiobooksync and select the library from the results.
