Year 11 Reflection Day
On Monday, our Year 11 students attended a reflection day at the Wauchope Country Club. As the students begin their final year of school, this Reflection Day gave them an opportunity to reflect on how far they’ve come. The aim was to open up the support structures that are in place and to create and strengthen friendships within the year group.
The students had the opportunity to assess what unique skills and abilities they possess and were challenged to consider how they can share these for the betterment of their year group and wider College Community.
The day was structured to focus on three elements of their journey.
The first session enabled the students to reflect on where they’ve been and invited them to share their journey so far within small groups.
The second session focused on each individual; the choices they make, the values they prioritise and the influence they have on others, and the skills and abilities that they have to share.
The third and final session of the day gave the students time to identify how they can go forward from the retreat with what they had learnt during the day. They were asked to ‘look with our hearts’. After reflecting on where they’ve been and who they are, this session aimed to direct their eyes to the person they are becoming.
I would like to thank Ms Flanagan, the Year 11 Leader of Student Wellbeing and Mr Gobius, who planned and facilitated the day. Our Youth Ministry Offices Emily and Ella, who shared their personal stories as well as the Year 11 Pastoral Care Teachers and other staff who supported and worked with the students.
Finally, congratulations to our Year 11 students who engaged in the Reflection Day with openness and maturity. Some students may have found the activities challenging, but it is through this experience that they grow as a person.
