Literacy Enrichment - Get Involved!
What is ‘Literacy Enrichment’ at SJRC?
It’s opportunities in and out of SJRC that enrich students’ understanding of and experience with media, film, reading, writing and language in general. It’s excursions, festivals, writing, debating and public speaking competitions and live performance.

Year 9 English - Letters to Bring a Smile
Ms Mooney’s Year 9 class recently answered a nursing home’s social media call for action. The aged care facility had been in lockdown due to the Coronavirus and consequently, their residents were unable to receive visitors. To help them feel more ‘connected to the outside world’ the nursing home asked if there were any people willing to write their residents a letter.
In the last week of Term 1, 9ENG1 answered the call. Students wrote a little about themselves, their lives and how they were coping studying from home. We hope our letters brought a little smile in the lives of the elderly residents.
Keep reading, writing, reflecting, composing, creating, musing and connecting.
