Earth Hour
At this week's assembly, Leaders of Sustainability Jemima Scott-Branagan and Lily Monckton informed students and staff about Earth Hour, the worldwide event is being held this Saturday, 25th March, between 8:30pm and 9:30pm.
Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The event is held annually, encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights, for one hour, as a symbol of commitment to the planet. This event is a chance for everyone to play a small part in naturing our environment by switching off, unplugging and going old school. Jemima and Lily gave students some suggestions, which were to light a candle, read a book, play an instrument, draw a picture or have a conversation with someone they love.
Here at the College, classes were invited to join in by switching off in Period 5 today, with some classes deciding to take their learning outdoors.
