2023 Diocesan Junior Football Gala Day Report

Boys Team

SJRC travelled to Coffs Harbour optimistic of having a successful tournament after taking care of SCAS and MacKillop in the Bill Turner Cup a few weeks earlier. The squad was further strengthened with the addition of a core of Year 10 players that were too old for the Bill Turner Cup. The team played through periods of excellent soccer throughout the day but narrowly missed the semi finals on a count back.

Girls Team

After an early exit in the Bill Turner Trophy competition losing 3-1 to Hastings Secondary College, the girls were keen to play more soccer together at the Diocesan Gala day.  The girls played exceptionally well making the semi finals, facing off against a strong MacKillop team. Despite the score being drawn for most of the match, the girls went down 2-1.

The girls played great and are to be congratulated for their efforts.
