At this week's assembly, I was surprised by a very special presentation by our College student leaders, Leo Hunt, Don Bittu and Olivia Montgomery, congratulating me on my appointment as Principal. I feel very blessed and privileged to lead and be a part of this College community.
I sincerely thank the students and staff for this kind gesture. The plant will now live happily in my office.

St Joseph’s Coraki Visit
Over the past two terms, the College has been fundraising in order to support St Joseph’s, Coraki in their recovery after the devastating floods earlier in the year. So far, as a College community, we have donated $3000; $1000 in Term 2 and $2000 in Term 3 through BBQ, special events and donations from our very generous Year 11 Year cohort.
On Thursday of this week, I had the privilege to visit St Joseph’s Coraki, accompanied by two Year 11 student representatives, Finlay Marshall and Brendan Walsh, where we heard and witnessed their story first-hand.
Our first impression when we walked into St Joseph’s is that it is a very special school that gave us a real sense of community. The school is slowly recovering and the students and staff demonstrate great resilience, however, they still have many challenges ahead of them.
A small assembly was held and Brendan and Finlay made a short speech and presented to the Principal, Mr Moloney, a cheque for the $2000 and boxes of books donated by our staff.
St Joseph’s students and staff greatly appreciated the support but also were grateful for our visit and that SJRC were thinking and praying for them.
Our College will continue to keep in contact with and support St Joseph’s Coraki as they continue on their recovery journey.

Tell Them From Me- Parent Survey
We invite all families to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning Survey.
As we value the role of parents and carers within our College community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Joseph's Regional College.
The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. The survey will close on 31st August 2022.

Excellence in our Community
At this week's assembly, students were informed about the expectations of excellence also extend beyond our school gates and into our broader community. Students were reminded that they continue to represent our College when in transit to and from school, or out in the community wearing our College uniform outside school hours, and the same standard of excellence in conduct, presentation and interactions with others applies.
When entering Sovereign Hills IGA, students are now required to leave their school bags in a designated area inside the IGA entrance before they move into the main part of the supermarket.
I ask that families of students who frequent this centre discuss with their child/ren the importance of maintaining a high standard of behaviour while in our community in College uniform.
Code of Presentation - College Uniform 2023
The following uniform items that have been phased out are no longer available to purchase: white sports socks and plain black SAPSS sports shorts. From 2023, all students must wear the new black sports shorts with the yellow strip down the side and black SAPSS sports socks.
Currently, boys may wear the grey socks with a blue band when they are wearing the older-style grey shorts.
For boys wearing the new black shorts, the correct socks are the black socks with the double white band. No ankle socks are permitted.
Girls may wear either black or white mid-calf socks with their formal uniform. No ankle socks are permitted.
Sports socks - currently students are permitted to wear either the black or the white SAPSS ankle socks.
Not permissible - There should be no invisible “sockette” style socks and no branded socks such as Nike or Adidas. Jewellery items such as beaded anklets are not part of our College uniform and are not permitted to be worn at school.
I thank families for their assistance in ensuring the high standards of our Code of Presentation are maintained.

Madge’s first week
What a big first week it has been for Madge. Madge has experienced her first days ‘working’ at the College and getting used to the environment. It is great to see the joy and love being given and received during her interactions with both students and staff. Madge managed to be involved in her PC’s daily activities, she has met lots of seniors during their study periods and also worked with our Mitjigan groups and some of our Indigenous boys. Many other students also got to meet Madge between classes and at recess and lunch. To finish off the week she did a meet and greet before school and then spent some time with Year 12 having a wellbeing lesson after their trial HSC period.
It is great to see students at the College remembering the rules that make Madge feel safe and help her to interact so positively.
Well done SJRC staff and students.

This week we feature two Alumni's Taylee Eames as our Alumni from the class of 2016 and Alyssa Carroll from the class of 2017.
Taylee Eames
"Challenge yourself and step out of your comfort zone - it is where you are going to grow the most". These very wise words of advice come from a former student and former Sport/PDHPE trainee Taylee Eames. Taylee followed her passion and is now living her dream of secondary PDHPE teaching right back here with us. How lucky are we? Congratulations Taylee.
Alyssa Carroll
The road to becoming a Psychologist is long and difficult with many hurdles to jump. This week's alumna Alyssa Carroll is forging ahead, combining a robust study and research agenda with employment as a Registered Provisional Psychologist. Her words of wisdom are very appropriate as we see Year 12 approaching the finish line to their HSC quickly now - "Prioritise yourself and seek support when you are struggling".
